Comprehensive Policy & Parent Guide to FERPA Compliance
1. General Privacy & Data Collection
German School Campus is committed to protecting the privacy of our students and their families. We collect personal identifiers (names, emails, addresses) and educational records strictly for academic operations.
Our Commitment
We never sell, rent, or trade your personal data with outside marketing firms. All data is handled with the highest level of academic trust.
2. Secure Service Providers
We utilize trusted partners to manage secure school functions:
- Stripe: Encrypted payment processing (we do not store credit card numbers).
- iLearn Portal: Secure interactive learning environment.
- WPForms: Secure SSL-encrypted registration forms.
3. Student Privacy (FERPA)
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. This applies to all educational institutions receiving federal funding, and German School Campus adopts these standards as our core privacy benchmark.
4. Primary Parental Rights
Under FERPA, parents and guardians have specific rights regarding their children’s records:
- The right to inspect and review student education records within 45 days of a request.
- The right to request amendments to records believed to be inaccurate or misleading.
- The right to provide written consent before the school discloses personally identifiable information.
5. Directory Information & Opt-Out
“Directory information” includes details like a student’s name, dates of attendance, and awards. Schools may disclose this without consent unless a parent opts out.
Right to Opt-Out
If you wish to restrict the disclosure of directory information, please submit a written request to the school administration office.
