At the German School campus, our educational philosophy emphasizes the importance of play, exploration, and hands-on activities for children to learn effectively. We also value positive relationships with peers and adults in the community as a critical aspect of the learning experience.

While it is highly recommended for incoming students in grade one or higher to have prior exposure to the German language, we understand that our student body comes from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Therefore, we strive to provide personalized support for each student through collaborative partnerships between the school, teachers, and families.

The curriculum at our Elementary School conforms to the standard German competency areas and is formulated to meet, and in many cases exceed, the educational standards established by the State of California. Students are encouraged to develop a strong grasp of fundamental concepts and nurture a long-term love of learning through Math, German, Science, and Social Studies.

Students in grades one through five attend classes from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. The low student-teacher ratio fosters a customized curriculum and individualized attention.

Our multi-age classroom cultivates a tight-knit community, with older students serving as role models for their younger peers. This setting promotes quicker independence in the younger students, as they receive support from their older “buddies”.

The positive social, emotional, physical, and intellectual behavior exhibited by the older students sets an excellent example for the younger ones. Additionally, the diverse range of interests, personalities, and abilities present in the classroom offers stimulating and enriching experiences for all students.

A robust school day comprises a harmonious mix of academic learning and self-enhancement activities.
