Die ersten Wochen am Campus
Die ersten Tage vergingen wie im Flug, da wir viel unternommen haben: Wir haben die ersten Erledigungen gemacht, das Auto abgeholt und die wunderschönen Strände erkundet. Aber auch auf dem German School Campus gab es ein herzliches Willkommen in Form einer kleinen Bootstour durch den Hafen von Newport Beach.
Nach dem ersten Kennenlernen begannen die Vorbereitungen für die Schule im neuen Schuljahr, bei denen die anstehenden Veranstaltungen und die neuen Klassen besprochen wurden. Ein paar Tage später starteten wir mit der traditionellen Einschulungsfeier und einem gemütlichen Beisammensein bei Kaffee und Kuchen.
Zu meinen Aufgaben gehören die Mithilfe bei der Organisation von Veranstaltungen, die Unterstützung im Unterricht und die Vorstellung meiner Heimat. Gleich zu Beginn habe ich den Kindern durch eine PowerPoint-Präsentation einen Einblick in das Leben in Süddeutschland gegeben und sie über Kultur und Traditionen informiert.
Im weiteren Verlauf hatte ich die Gelegenheit, mehr über die Kommunikation mit Eltern zu lernen, andere Schulen und Lehrkräfte in der Umgebung kennenzulernen und den Alltag einer Privatschule mitzuerleben. Durch die alten Gebäude und die vielen mexikanischen Eindrücke durch Essen, Musik und handgemachte Waren habe ich eine neue und faszinierende Welt kennengelernt.
First Weeks at the Campus
The first few days went by very quickly, as we did a lot: we ran the first errands, picked up the car, and explored the beautiful beaches. But also, on the German School Campus, there was a warm welcome in the form of a small boat tour through the harbor of Newport Beach.
After getting to know each other for the first time, the preparations for the school began in the new school year, where the upcoming events and the new classes were discussed. A few days later, we started with the traditional enrollment ceremony and a cozy get-together with coffee and cake.
My tasks include helping organize events, assisting in class, and introducing my home. Right at the beginning, I gave the children an insight into life in Southern Germany through a PowerPoint and informed them about culture and traditions.
As I progressed, I had the opportunity to learn more about communicating with parents, getting to know other schools and teachers in the area, and experiencing the daily life of a private school. Through the old buildings and the many Mexican impressions through food, music, and handmade goods, I learned about a new and fascinating world.
