The Saint Martin Lantern Parade returns to Old World German Village in Huntington Beach on Sunday, November 9, 2025, hosted by German School Campus, the award-winning bilingual school with locations in Newport Beach and Huntington Beach. This cherished St. Martin celebration brings families together to honor one of Germany’s most heartwarming traditions — a night filled with glowing lanterns, music, and a sense of community spirit.
A Timeless German Tradition Comes to Life
Each November, children across Germany celebrate St. Martin’s Day by creating colorful lanterns and participating in parades through their towns. The Saint Martin Lantern Parade is a joyful moment that symbolizes kindness, light, and sharing, inspired by the legend of Saint Martin, the Roman soldier who famously shared his cloak with a beggar in need.
At German School Campus, we are proud to bring this beloved tradition to Southern California. Our event is more than a cultural celebration — it’s an educational experience that connects families to the values of compassion and community at the heart of German heritage.

Date: Sunday, November 9, 2025
Time: Setup and lantern sales start at 5:00 PM
St. Martin Play: Begins around 5:45 PM
Lantern Parade: Starts around 6:00 PM and ends by 7:00 PM
This free family event invites everyone — children, parents, and friends — to participate and celebrate together.
Create Your Own Lantern
Before the event, families are encouraged to make their own lanterns at home. It’s easy and fun! Visit our event page for step-by-step lantern-making instructions and inspiration for your glowing creation.
During the event, a lantern sale booth will also be available on-site starting at 5:00 PM for those who would like to purchase a ready-made lantern.
Celebrate and Give Back
As a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, German School Campus proudly offers this cultural event free of charge to the public. To help cover organizational costs and continue bringing this tradition to our community, we kindly suggest a $5 donation via Venmo @germanschoolcampus.
