Orientation for the Middle School program

What will you learn in German?


At the middle school level at the German School campus, you will learn German grammar and vocabulary to enhance your language skills. You will write letters, email reports and learn to present a project. The curriculum will cover German history, culture, and society, providing a comprehensive understanding of the country. You will be prepared in the so-called: „Sternchenthemen,“ to work towards the Language diploma.B1. You will engage in conversational practice to improve your oral proficiency, discussing various topics and participating in debates. Additionally, you may have the opportunity to explore German film and music to further immerse yourself in the language and culture.


How do we teach German?


At the German School campus, German is taught using a communicative and immersive approach, creating an environment where students actively engage in the language. Through a combination of interactive lessons, authentic materials, and cultural activities, students develop their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. The curriculum is designed to foster a deep understanding of German grammar, vocabulary, and cultural nuances, enabling students to become proficient and confident German speakers.

What can you earn and get in German?


At the German School campus, you can acquire an intermediate or high level of proficiency in German, enabling you to communicate effectively in both spoken and written forms. Through rigorous language instruction, you can develop a solid foundation in grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. Additionally, you will gain a deep understanding of German culture, literature, and history, allowing you to engage with the rich heritage and traditions of the German-speaking world.

Why should you take the Exams and what can you earn?

The Deutsches Sprachdiplom is a program designed by the German government responsible for education.
GERMAN SCHOOL campus is certified to administer the DSD I exam.

– You will have the linguistic prerequisite to study at a Studienkolleg in Germany – with the DSD I.
– We can acquire the seal of biliteracy for you with the DSD I.
– You may be able to use this certificate in school as proof of a foreign language (this depends on the individual school’s policies).

  • AATG-National German Exam for High School Level 1-3 (towards scholarship on summer programs)
  • Jugend debattiert“, “Jugend debaters” – earn certificates or qualify to go on a trip

Where can you study German?

  • On campus in Newport Beach.
  • On Campus in Laguna Niguel ( homeschooled students)
  • Online or in hybrid classes
