Week 5 in California

Damiana Internship at GERMAN SCHOOL campus

German School Campus had Spring Break this week, which is why there were no classes. Nevertheless, I had the chance to teach a SPARK German class at the Middle School in Aliso Viejo. The children learned how to introduce themselves in German, and we practiced speaking the language. It was a fun and interactive class, and we had a lot of fun.

During the rest of the week, I explored the local area. One of the places I visited was Huntington Beach, also known as Surf City USA. The wide beaches were beautiful! I also visited the weekly Farmers Market which features over 50 vendors selling a variety of locally produced goods, including organic produce, artisan bread, honey, and flowers.

Then I went to San Diego, where I visited the Old Town and the Balboa Park. The Old Town is known for its rich cultural heritage, and Spanish colonial architecture, and I really liked its lively atmosphere. Balboa Park was great, too! I absolutely enjoyed strolling through the botanical gardens, marveling at the stunning architecture, and savoring the peaceful and scenic oasis in the heart of the city.

On the weekend, I attended the Cherry Blossom Festival in Huntington Beach, which was a great experience. The festival celebrated Asian-American culture, and I had the chance to sample traditional Japanese cuisine and watch performances by local artists. Further, the festival was a great opportunity to meet new people and make new friends.
